Mushroom Dye Kit: Omphalotus olivascens

Explore the magical forest alchemy of mushroom dyeing in the comfort of your own home! The materials provided will help you dye a gorgeous lavender purple and a cool green ranging from sage to forest green.

This dye kit includes: 

• 60 g dried Omphalotus olivascens mushroom, foraged from Northern California
• Three 100% silk handkerchiefs (11″ x 11″)
• Two 10 g mini-skeins of 100% merino wool, worsted weight
• Ferrous sulfate (iron mordant) to shift the pigment to green
• Two handouts from Human Becoming:

  • One sharing about how to use this specific dye kit

This dye kit DOES NOT INCLUDE but requires:

• A thermometer (ideally one that isn’t used on food)
