It’s time to connect with your own nature

Whether you’re looking to learn a new skill, explore our physical world, or practice writing new scripts, you’re in the right place. Together, we can:

Get to know our neighbors

The plants, animals, and fungi around us are our community members, and make up the web of life that sustains us. I’d certainly be remiss to not also mention the less popular folks in other kingdoms, such as bacteria (including the single-celled progenitor of all life on this planet), protists (like slime mold), monera (like blue green algae), and archaea (such as those found in your body’s very own microbiomes). That’s not even mentioning the symbiotes within or between these kingdoms, like lichen.

Explore ancestral practices

I am gratified to share what I can about some of the skills practices that my and/or all of our ancestral lineages have participated in. These include: fiber arts, engaging with our landscapes through foraging, making medicines and salves, slaughtering and butchering, turning a plant into cord, fermenting foods with wild microbes, and gathering together to create and enjoy song, food, or items. Not only are these practices exciting and interesting, but when I do them, I feel connected to the both my blood-and-bone ancestors as well as many others who contributed to my being who I am. It’s a powerful experience that words alone can’t convey.

De- and re-construct “diet”

I am deeply grateful for my experience in and commitment to the process of learning how to recognize, identify, critique, and deconstruct the powerful (yet often insidious and invisibilized) hydra that is our culture’s dietary dogma. With the component pieces in front of me, I am able to choose what serves me in building a system that works for me, and what to disregard. Join me in 1) tuning and listening to your body’s directions, 2) exploring, critiquing, and understanding the science behind dietary choices, and 3) freeing ourselves from the frequently painful result of accepting the current dietary hegemony/status-quo. Imagine: what would your life be like if you could: live with a grounded relationship to food, eat in a species-appropriate way, and experience real satisfaction?
